United American Indian Involvement (UAII) promotes the physical, behavioral, and spiritual well-being of American Indian and Alaskan Native communities in the urban Los Angeles area while preserving our cultures and traditions.
We provide healthcare that is culturally sensitive and inclusive of all patients, as well as community programs developed by and for our Native and Indigenous communities.
Health Services
We provide access to culturally sensitive healthcare, clinical services, case management, and health education that is culturally sensitive and open to all.
Community Services
We offer evidence-based and culturally appropriate programs for substance use, workforce development, elder services, and much more for our Native and Indigenous community.
Youth Programs
Since our founding, we’ve delivered programs that promote the growth and well-being of our youth while passing on our cultural knowledge and tribal values.

50 Years of Service and Counting
UAII was established in 1974 on the streets of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles by two empowered Native women.
Over the past five decades, we’ve become the largest nonprofit provider of health and human services for American Indians and Alaskan Natives in L.A., the largest urban center in the country. Today, we provide healthcare services for the community.
Our dedicated staff works hard to offer culturally sensitive services that help our communities grow stronger every day.

Getting tested is one of the easiest ways no take care of yourself and your partners. At the UAII Primary Care Clinic, you can access confidential STI testing, prevention services, and culturally centered care in a welcoming environment. As of July 1, 2026, eligible American Indian/Alaska Native clients may receive up to a $30 incentive card when they come in for STI testing.

Need help accessing affordable public transportation? UAII’s LIFE program can help eligible participants access transit resources and save on transportation costs.
New participants receive a 90-day free pass. After that, LIFE offers 20 free regional rides each month or fare subsidies that may be applied toward participating transit passes and regional ride options.

As temperatures rise, it’s important to know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and what to do when they occur. Stay hydrated, take breaks in cool or air-conditioned spaces, and use a cool shower or cold compress if you’re feeling overheated.
Know the signs of heat stroke. Take care of yourself, your family, and your community this summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on those around you.
UAII was honored to attend the Muscogee Nation Southern California Outreach and spend time connecting with community, partners, and relatives.
Gatherings like these remind us of the importance of showing up for one another, building relationships, and creating spaces where Native people can connect, share resources, and support one another.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to be present and strengthen our community connections.
Join the American Indian & Alaska Native Voices on Vaccines Community Listening Circle, a space for Native adults in Los Angeles County to share their thoughts, experiences, and perspectives on vaccines. Your feedback will help support more culturally respectful outreach and messaging around vaccine confidence in our communities.

This month, UAII is highlighting the Yuchi Tribe and sharing a glimpse into traditions that continue to connect generations, community, and culture.
From the community tradition of stickball, to the Green Corn Ceremony and Buffalo Dance, Yuchi cultural practices carry stories of strength, connection, spirituality, and a deep relationship with the land and community.
